Saturday Tip: 5 Basic Photography Tips

Hi everyone! Happy Saturday! This week, we're going to talk about photography. As we all know, good photographs can take your digital scrapbooking pages from good to AMAZING! So, I thiought we could all use a refresher on some basic photography tips! Feel free to let us know what tips you have in the comments on this post!!

#1 - Keep your camera with you!

The opportunity to take a great photo will happen unexpectedly most of the time! If you have your camera with you as you go about your day, you're much more likely to be able to catch a photo that will blow you away!

#2 - Use a tripod!

Using a tripod will help you get outstanding photos. Without it, your photos are much less likely to come out as you'd like. We all have shaky hands to some degree. Just purchasing and using an inexpensive tripod can really take your photos from good to great!

#3 - Educate yourself

First and foremost, read your camera's manual. It is a critical educational opportunity ... knowing how to work your camera will always increase your satisfaction with the resulting photos! #4 - Composition Matters

Learn how you can better compose your photographs. Use them to create photos that stand out simply because they are beautifully composed! There are many composition 'rules' but the most commonly discussed and easily accomplished by a beginner is the Rule of Thirds.  This rule involves dividing the image into three equal parts and composing the image in thirds. The dominant subject of the photo is placed one third up or down the image or one third from the left or right side of the image. More information on this rule can be found here.

#5 - Experiment and then experiment some more!

The nice thing about digital cameras is that we can experiment and try new things without costing ourselves a fortune in printing costs. You can take chances and try new things because that is how you are going to learn what works for you!
